Delicate and beautiful ring using a vintage japanese Cherry Brand scarab in purple. As always, my source of inspiration are ancient civilizations, like greek, roman or egyptian. They used to use cameos and intaglios for their rings, and that's what I tried to do and I love the result! This is a super limited edition ring, so get yours while there's still some! I will try to do more with the time but nothing sure ;) READY TO SHIP

These little engraved scarabs are Cherry Brand Glass and the story behind is fascinating. In 1945, the year that WWII finally ended, Japan (ocuppied by the US) was in need to reconstruct their country and economy. Small artisan glassmakers in Osaka were asked by american jewelers to produce what they have been centuries mastering: glass beads. They were all independent artisans but they informally band together and sell their products under the name Cherry Brand. This lasted from 1945 to 1952 and helped a lot to improved their lives. I make the bezel open to let see the marks made on the back. Lot of people will say that they are hieroglyphics but, if you know a little bit about them, these marks are nothing quite like them. Actually, they resemble more to Chinese or Japanese kanji, and considering they come from Japan, that could be a reasonable explanation, but I can't really confirm that.
